Apply today for JFREJ’s Grace Paley Organizing Fellowship (GPOF) for Jews of Color, Mizrahi & Sephardi Jews and Jews raised poor or working class. We have a rolling application process, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances of being selected for the fellowship. The deadline for applications is Monday, August 8th at 5pm. If you have questions about the fellowship, email firstname.lastname@example.org
GPOF is JFREJ’s flagship leadership development program — an 8-month long fellowship (beginning in October) for 8-12 Jews committed to social justice and community organizing. This year, for the first time, the fellowship cohort will entirely Jews of Color, Mizrahi and Sephardi Jews and Jews raised poor or working class!
The fellowship is a unique opportunity for Jews committed to working for social justice to learn to be effective community organizers and deepen their political analysis all while building relationships and community. The fellowship includes opening and closing retreats and a once-a-month Sunday day-long meeting between October and June. The fellowship allows participants to build a shared analysis of how our personal experiences interact with broader systems of oppression while learning the foundational tenets of organizing. The monthly day-long workshops cover topics including racial justice, Jews and class, and anti-Jewish oppression, as well as trainings in skills such as base-building, facilitation, campaign strategy and development, and fundraising. In addition to the monthly trainings, fellows will take leadership in on-the-ground campaigns for racial and economic justice.
The fellowship is provided free to the participants by JFREJ, but requires commitment and a sustained interest in social justice movement building.
If you’re a Jew of Color, Mizrahi or Sephardi Jew or raised poor or working class Jew with a deep interest in justice, please apply! And everyone, please share this amazing resource far and wide.
