For the last four months, hundreds of JFREJ members have taken action against City Council Speaker Menin & Council Member Dinowitz's "buffer zone" bills (read an op-ed by JFREJ Executive Director Audrey Sasson in the NY Daily News about why JFREJ opposes this legislation). The City Council voted to pass the the bills in late March, and on Friday, April 24, Mayor Mamdani vetoed one of them, and declined to sign the other, which passed with a veto-proof majority.
