As part of the Fall Direct Action Series, join JFREJ, Kolot Chayeinu & the Peace Poets for an evening of protest songs in Kolot's beautiful sukkah! The sukkah is just off Prospect Park West between 4th & 5th Streets, visible from the street and in front of Litchfield Villa.
We will do havdalah, engage in conversation on the role of music in direct action, and learn songs- including their significance to particular community organizing contexts.
If you have a song you'd like to sing with on the streets, please send them to amanda@jfrej.org. Please include a few lines about the context from which the song arises, as well as a link to the song being sung if available. We won't be able to include everything, but we hope to compile a song book in the future! There is no expectation that people attending this workshop have prior singing experience. Singing is something we can all do together, it's power in collective expression/connection.
