Join #JewsforBlackLives & JFREJ's Freedom to Thrive Campaign as we hold each other through in love and rage following the violence and brutality of the last few days. New Yorkers who've gathered to mourn George Floyd and other victims of recent police violence in Brooklyn have met with a massive police presence even before protesters arrived. Video after video shows NYPD officers acting violently toward New Yorkers and escalating interactions. We will hear from organizers on the frontlines, share updates, get organized in our effort to defund the NYPD, end police secrecy, and win funding for housing, healthcare, and the resources all of us need to thrive.

The City must make meaningful cuts to the almost $6B NYPD budget in order to strengthen crucial public health infrastructure, save safety-net programs and ensure that services, programs, and infrastructure in Black and other communities of color most impacted by COVID-19 are prioritized over policing. While many City agencies are facing major cuts & hiring freezes, the Mayor's proposed budget leaves the NYPD budget largely untouched. Now is the time to #Defundthe NYPD
