The Time is Now for the New York Health Act: A Conversation about Long-Term care ft. Ady Barkan & the NY Caring Majority
Join older adults, disabled people, family caregivers, home care workers, and healthcare activist Ady Barkan to share stories and learn about the urgent need to pass the New York Health Act to fix our broken long-term care system. If we want to live in a New York that works for everyone who gives and receives care, we need to take action for single-payer health care now.
Ady Barkan was diagnosed with ALS at age 32. He is the co-founder of the Be a Hero Fund and an organizer for the Center for Popular Democracy. He’s been featured in the New York Times and Politico and in Time Magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2020. We are excited for Ady Barkan to join with NY Caring Majority leaders as we enter the last final push for the NY Health Act! This legislation would provide guaranteed, comprehensive healthcare that INCLUDES long-term home and community-based care to all New Yorkers, regardless of income. With just days left in the legislative session, the call to pass the NY Health Act is becoming more and more urgent.
