Wages have stagnated, prices are rising, and workers are demanding better. It's time to raise the minimum wage so workers across New York can earn enough money to cover the basics we all need to survive, like rent and food, and be able to rest and thrive.
On Tuesday, November 15, labor unions; grassroots organizers; businesses; and workers from across the city will join the Raise Up NY Coalition; Senate Labor Chair Jessica Ramos; Assemblymember Latoya Joyner; Comptroller Brad Lander; and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Fight for $15 and a Union, and announce a new campaign to raise the minimum wage in New York State and make sure it never falls behind again. Join us for a march to raise the wage!
Amid significant cost increases and a stagnant minimum wage, the coalition is calling for legislation that adjusts the minimum wage annually. Rather than needing workers and their allies to push for every minimum wage increase, this legislation would automatically respond to the cost of living and give workers the wage increases they need.
