Tisha B'Av Vigil

This Tisha B'Av, JFREJ is supporting a silent vigil led by Halachic Left to show the observant community that Jews care about Palestinian lives and understand the destruction of Gaza as intimately related to our own history of destruction and expulsion.

During the action, we will be sitting silently on the ground, mourning. Participants are invited to share poetry, writings, kinnot and reflections, but are asked to refrain from conversation. As in a shiva, we will be setting a meditative, mournful tone.

Participants are asked to come dressed in plain black clothes, to refrain from eating and drinking, and to refrain from wearing leather shoes. Participants are also asked not to wear or bring any signs or flags symbolizing national identity.

Sign up here for a 2-hour shift to help hold the space.
