The Jewish Vote Endorses Yuh-Line Niou for Open Seat in New York’s 10th Congressional District
The electoral arm of Jews For Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ) throws grassroots Jewish support behind New York Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou’s congressional bid.
New York, NY — The Jewish Vote, the electoral arm of Jews For Racial & Economic Justice Action (JFREJ) proudly endorses Yuh-Line Niou for U.S. Congress representing District 10. The Jewish Vote previously endorsed Yuh-Line, who has a long history of working closely with New York’s Jewish community, in her 2020 and 2022 races for New York State Assembly and State Senate.
“My neighbors and I couldn’t ask for a more dedicated, passionate, reliable, and experienced legislator than Yuh-Line Niou to represent us in Congress,” said Rebecca Lynch, a JFREJ member in NY-10 who serves on The Jewish Vote Steering Committee. “She knows our district intimately, and understands the local issues that impact us — from food insecurity in Chinatown and Sunset Park to the immediate dangers posed by the climate crisis to Lower Manhattan, Red Hook, and Gowanus.”
“JFREJ members have worked alongside Yuh-Line for years during her time in the State Assembly. We’ve watched her courageously stand up to authoritarian leadership from bullies like Cuomo and speak out as a survivor. We’ve seen her show up for her constituents in Jewish and Asian communities alike in times of need, especially in the aftermath of hate violence,” said Raf Noboa y Rivera, a JFREJ member who serves on The Jewish Vote Steering Committee. “Our progressive Jewish community knows her as a fierce and committed advocate on our priority issues, like the care economy and hate violence prevention. That’s exactly the kind of person we need in Congress.”
“I am honored to have the endorsement of The Jewish Vote,” said Yuh-Line Niou. “When it comes to working toward a greener future, fighting for affordable housing, and advocating for better wages and working conditions, JFREJ and The Jewish Vote have been an outspoken voice and advocate in working towards a more equitable future for all communities. As we continue to combat antisemitic violence and sentiment, we need more courageous and bold leaders like JFREJ and The Jewish Vote.”
“Something a lot of people don’t know about Yuh-Line is that she grew up going to a JCC summer camp,” said Audrey Sasson, JFREJ’s Executive Director. “Long before she moved to New York and spent six years building relationships with Jewish communities as a legislator, she developed a deep respect for Jewish ritual, practice, and the diversity of our community. From distributing PPE to synagogues in her district for safer in-person services, to partnering with kosher businesses to distribute kosher meals, she’s been a true ally to our community in office.”
In 2020, The Jewish Vote played a key role in electing Rep. Jamaal Bowman to U.S. Congress, ousting long-time incumbent Eliot Engel. In 2021, The Jewish Vote’s candidates won 18 out of the 28 City Council and citywide races in which the group endorsed, with all but one winning in the 2021 general election. The continued success of JFREJ’s electoral program — now in its fourth cycle — has made The Jewish Vote a formidable figure in New York City politics, and the ascendent electoral Left nationwide.
