Job and Organization Overview:
Jews For Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ) is a 6,000-member grassroots organization and the home of New York’s Jewish Left. For over 30 years, JFREJ members have organized alongside our neighbors to transform New York from a playground for the wealthy few into a real democracy, free from all forms of racist violence, (with playgrounds for all of us!)
We are currently seeking a full-time Development and Database Associate or Database Manager to join our dynamic Development team. Reporting to the Development Manager, this individual must have a passion for data and fundraising, as well as a high level of attention to detail. This position will support the staff in the development department to use data to move money and build power. This position is truly the backbone of this department.
We are only hiring one position but we are open to hiring at either the entry level or the manager level. We welcome applicants with a range of experience and we will make a determination once our pool is established.

Job Responsibilities:
Data Work (EveryAction)
- Manages database integrity including: De-duping duplicate records, updating contact information, ongoing maintenance of existing and new data
- Uploads donations from external sources into database
- Make sure all donation data is up to date and accurate in EveryAction
- Works with Development Manager and Director of Strategic Communications to create lists for development emails and mailings
- Tracks grants in EveryAction
- Assists Deputy Director to maintain Moves Management Action Plans for tracking high net wealth donor prospecting, solicitation, and stewardship
- Trains and assists other staff in EveryAction skills needed for their positions (events, forms, etc.)
- Creates and/or helps manage coding systems for the development and organizing departments
- Communicates with members about their donations and processes cancellations and refunds
Development Work
- Assists Development Manager in planning and executing annual grassroots membership drives
- Owns donor acknowledgement process for the development team
- Creates donation forms
- Builds and writes scripts for fundraising phonebanks
- Phone banks up to 10 hours a week during peak fundraising seasons
- Owns communication with members relating to tax receipts and giving history
- Builds relationships with JFREJ volunteers who work on fundraising and data
- Handles the mail at our Brooklyn office biweekly and records all donations received
- Manages attendance systems for fundraising events such as our annual gala/party
- Creates and manages ongoing email series’ for fundraising and to deepen member engagement
- Gathers data for analysis by development team of our fundraising data and trends
- Assists in other development tasks as assigned
Miscellaneous
- Monitors and replies to emails sent to info@jfrej.org account every morning
Data Management (for Manager role)
- Monitors JFREJ’s approach to data holistically and strive to make the data we have more powerful for our organizing and development goals.
- Researches, introduces, and train staff on new data systems that could improve our data quality
- Coordinates and supervises use of non-EveryAction data tools (e.g. Action Network, Google Sheets, Airtable)
